The video is part of a spatial installation included in my work Objekty-wizm (Object-ivism). I'm interested in everyday objects and searching for new constellations, meanings and functions of known objects. I place objects in absurd physical relationships and processes. This video documentation presents the results (successes and failures). I registered the processes in which the objects are involved, contrary to their purpose. My goal is to challenge the surrounding reality. It is a kind of rebellion, creation of an abstract utopia, in which nonsense and noise dominate the social order, memory and habit. 2. Izabela Sitarska, Pomiędzy, 2014, Poland, 00:08:28
Pomiędzy (In-between) is a video work that represents memory. Its structure reflects the search for flashbacks hidden deep in one’s mind. Despite being filmed between the summer and fall of 2014 (i.e. fairly recently), the author already witnessed certain revaluation: sentimental scenes (connected with the author’s ancestry) became a universal representation of periodicity and fear of the order of nature. The main focus is on the relationship with a specific place that becomes a universal place in the world. It is an immersion in surrealistic imaginary memories.
Izabela Sitarska (born 1992) is currently studying Mixed Media at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at the University of Fine Arts in Poznan. Her works explore the possibilities of the human psyche, its defects and their impact on the environment, absurd and syncretism of thinking. She experiments with form, often using video art, performance art, audio, the written word, collage and animation. Her selected exhibitions include: Pack Design Fair (Milan), Draw & Go (Mona Inner Spaces, Poznań), Rysopis (Wro Center, Wrocław).
3. Urszula Pieregończuk, Parabellum Luger, 2014, Poland, 00:11:39
Parabellum Luger is a quasi-documentary movie made in 2014 using found footage. The subject of the film is Georg von Luger and his invention: the 9mm Parabellum pistol, which was the first mass-produced gun officially adopted in the military service. In the years 1908–42, it was the first service pistol of the German army. We can retrace the gun’s journey from a utilitarian object to a symbolic artefact, which has already lost its primary war context.
The soundtrack plays a key role in the movie: the British English voiceover and instrumental music in the background create a film atmosphere that can be compared to the excitement and joy of the beginning of the 20th century.
