Studiotopia 2: Enter the Symbiocene with Arts and Science
"Studiotopia 2: Enter the Symbiocene with Arts and Science" is a European programme that promotes collaboration between artists and scientists from the field of both the hard sciences and the humanities. The programme reflects on sustainability and attempts to define the concept of the Symbiocene. It also addresses the question of how to create a transdisciplinary approach to investigating and describing the reality around us. Our world is in a quest for new critical narratives to shape the future of our societies in a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient way.
"Studiotopia 2" contributes to this ongoing discussion through its combination of scientific, artistic, and philosophical approaches. It builds on the success of the first edition of the project, "Studiotopia: Meeting Art and Science in the Anthropocene", which evolved through the intersection of art, science, and technology.
The project will be developed in partnership with ten European cultural and innovative institutions: Association HEXAGONE Arts et Sciences in Meylan; Ars Electronica in Linz; Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) and GLUON in Brussels; Centro Cultural Clujean in Cluj; Cyens Centre of Excellence in Nicosia; Digital Hub Development Agency in Dublin; LABoral in Gijon; LAZNIA Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdańsk and Kersnikova Institute in Ljubljana. Project is coordinated by MEET DIGITAL COMMUNICATION in Milan.
Over a period of more than three years, "Studiotopia 2" will cover various activities, including mapping of art and science programmes across Europe study visits to European art-sci centers for professionals, publications, fellowship and residences for established and emerging artists in collaboration with scientists, educational activities both for public and staff, exhibitions, public debates.
